We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, phone number, and authentication credentials when you create an account. To deliver our expense tracking and budgeting services, we process expense descriptions, amounts, categories, receipt images you scan, messages you send to Solus (in-app or via SMS/WhatsApp), contacts you choose to sync, and group membership data. We also collect device information, IP address, push notification tokens, and usage analytics to improve performance and security.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve our services; process transactions and send related notifications; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues; communicate with you about updates, features, and support; and comply with legal obligations.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who assist in operating our platform (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery), and only to the extent necessary. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Solus, our users, or the public.

AI Processing

Solus uses AI to read receipts, categorize expenses, and power the Solus assistant. When you scan a receipt or chat with Solus (in-app or via SMS or WhatsApp), the relevant content — receipt images, message text, and related expense context — is processed in part by third-party AI providers such as OpenAI to generate the response. We do not permit these providers to use your data to train their models. Extracted receipt data may contain errors and should be reviewed before saving; currency conversions shown are approximate.

Privacy by Design

Your financial data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, protected by strict row-level access controls so only you and the people you share a space with can see it. Receipt images live in access-controlled storage and are only visible to members of the space they belong to. Contacts you sync are used solely to help you split and invite — we never message your contacts without an action you initiate. Your data belongs to you and is never sold.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, row-level security on every table, regular security audits, and strict access controls. While no system is 100% secure, we are committed to protecting your information using best-in-class practices.

Your Rights
